Howdy!

I've been thinking a lot about gap years recently.

Part of that is because I've seen a lot of discussion in my comments lately. As many of you know, I'm currently deciding whether I'll be starting medical school this year or deferring and taking another gap year.

It's sparked a lot of opinions, but it's also made me reflect on why I took my first gap year in the first place.

When I graduated from Texas A&M last year, I knew I was taking one. Not because I wanted a break, but because I wanted to separate studying for the MCAT from applying to medical school.

What surprised me recently was learning that more than 74% of incoming medical students have taken at least one gap year. I came across a really interesting article discussing whether gap years are becoming the new normal for medical students, and it got me thinking about my own journey.

That means nearly 3 out of 4 future physicians didn't go straight from college to medical school.

The biggest lesson I've learned is that there isn't one perfect timeline for becoming a doctor.

There's only the timeline that's right for you.

In this week’s video, I discuss how I ran two marathons just one week apart.

At the Orange County Marathon, I actually ran faster than I did in London the week before... but there was one small problem. I fell. HARD.

Somehow, I got back up and finished the remaining 17 miles without realizing how much damage I'd actually done until I crossed the finish line.

In this week's YouTube video, I'm sharing the full story, what was going through my head, and how my body was able to do that?!?! according to science ofc

Something interesting I came across this week...

Between medical school, research, running, and content creation, I'm always looking for ways to stay on top of what's happening in technology and healthcare. DeepView does a great job breaking down complex topics into quick, easy-to-read insights.
